    Tabitha,
There are a number of products that will reduce the amount of spam (nothing can eliminate it entirely). They are called spam filters and they come as software, or built into hardware (appliances). Since you mention that you want to eliminate it from your network, I suggest you Google/Bing for spam appliance and pick a well known vendor.

    Allan,
Linux is a pretty mature Operating System and follows the Open Source model when it comes to costs: the software is free but support is not. When you are a company and your business depends on it, you often need support and that keeps the open source companies in business.

Linux comes in different flavors ("distributions") but they all run the same core operating system. The most popular are Red Hat, Ubuntu, Fedora and Debian. Of course, others may disagree on what is popular.

If you have never tried it, download Ubuntu (ubuntu.com), burn it on a CD and boot up any computer with it. Once it boots up, choose the "Try ubuntu without any change to your computer" option. Do NOT choose any other option otherwise it WILL format your hard drive and you WILL lose all the data on that computer.

Once the system boots up, you will get a windows like environment with Firefox and a number of other applications.

This is called the LiveCD option where it runs Ubuntu Linux on your computer directly in memory without affecting the existing system. To return to windows, pop out the Linux CD and restart the computer.
